The short answer
Radar units behind the ball and overhead units work for both hands without moving anything. Side-of-ball camera units must be moved to the other side of the ball. Plan 12 ft of width and a center- or double-hitting mat.
Placement by launch-monitor type
| Placement | Switching hands | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Behind the ball (radar) | No change | Hitting position can stay centered |
| Overhead | No change | Check the stated hitting zone covers both stances |
| Beside the ball (camera) | Move the unit to the other side | Needs mat or floor space on both sides |
Room and mat
- Width: 12 ft minimum with a centered hitting area.
- Mat: center-hitting or double-sided, so neither golfer stands on the edge. See center and double-hitting mats.
- Projector: ceiling-mounted short-throw units above the hitting area stay clear of both stances.
