Lighting a golf simulator room

Light on the screen fights the projector. Light on the ball can help — or confuse — a camera launch monitor.

Keep light off the screen

Any light that reaches the screen lowers contrast. Aim ceiling lights at the hitting area and away from the screen, and block windows behind or beside the screen. If you can't darken the room, choose a brighter projector — see the brightness calculator.

Camera launch monitors

Photometric units read the ball with high-speed cameras, and many use their own infrared lighting. Strong sunlight, flickering lights or reflective surfaces can interfere; follow each maker's placement and lighting guidance, and test before permanently mounting overhead units.
